Underworld
ABOUT
This project was done for as an assignment in university. Over the course of four weeks we were asked to design a variety of sound effects and edit them to simulate the atmosphere of the underground world. The aim was to mix the sounds so that all sound levels are set according to their importance whilst maintaining a level that would be realistic.

The sound effects were a combination of stock audio files from online, synthesised sounds made with FL Studio and Foley-made sound effects, and were implemented using the software Wwise.

We were asked to add spatial sound effects such as reverb. A fair amount of EQ went into it aswell, particularly for the fire sound loops. There are 3 - one with the low end cut off and the high end raised, and the other two with the high end cut and the low end raised. The former is a standout, even despite Wwise being set to randomly choose one as the character passes the torches.

The assignment gave us three vocal phrases to record and "produce" - we could do this however we wanted. In this video, I added a chorus effect with increased LFO and pasted the clips four different times, increasing the pitch of one (with automatic formant adjustment), lowering the pitch of one (same formant settings as the former), and increasing the pitch of the fourth one but kept the formant as it was. The original clip was unedited aside from the chorus effect.
